Royal Oak Shopping Centre: Open House Events

Hansbraun Investments Ltd. is excited to share that we’ve begun preliminary site planning for the future phased redevelopment of the Royal Oak Shopping Centre. With the District of Saanich announcing plans to rezone and sell the 2.7-acre site across West Saanich Road south of Fireside Grill, we feel this is the right time to explore the long-term vision and potential of our centre.

Though this process will take many years to unfold, we’ve initiated feasibility and pre-planning work, including early conversations with the District of Saanich, our tenants, and the broader community.

The District’s Official Community Plan envisions Royal Oak Shopping Centre as a vibrant mixed-use hub, featuring retail, offices, medical services, community spaces, and residential housing. We are excited to explore how we can align with this vision and look forward to sharing early concepts with our tenant community.

As planning progresses, we are committed to ensuring community needs and feedback remain central. We’ll be discussing development timing, tenancy during and after redevelopment, and other key considerations with our tenants every step of the way. Our goal is to create a revitalized, inclusive centre that continues to support and celebrate the community our tenants have helped build.

Our next step is to host a series of Open Houses at the centre, where tenants and community members can view the current plans, share feedback, and engage with the project team.

We have established three key forms of open houses: (1) for our shopping centre tenants (completed); (2) for our neighbours; and (3) a virtual open house for both tenants and neighbours. We look forward to having you attend one of the provided dates and to begin our discussion and planning process as we look to redevelop the Shopping Centre.

This will be ‘grazing style’ which means you can drop in any time during the stated window the day that you register. Representatives of our team will be available to answer questions and collect feedback.

We are asking both tenants and neighbours to only attend the open house geared to them and to please limit their attendance to only one of the open houses as the content will be the same at each and we want to be equitable with each tenants time and availability. Materials will be available online following this series of open houses.
